The AI video tool that’s bringing wild camera shots to everyone

If you’ve been scrolling through social media lately, you’ve probably noticed some eye-catching AI-generated videos with dramatic camera movements. Most likely, these came from Higsfield, an AI video platform that’s carving out a niche with hyper-stylized camera effects.

With the flood of gimmicky AI video tools hitting the market, I was curious: is Higsfield just another flashy toy, or does it actually offer something useful for content creators?

What makes Higsfield different?

At its core, Higsfield offers a library of camera motion presets and special effects that would normally require expensive equipment or complex post-production. These include:

  • Bullet Time (think “The Matrix” slow-motion effect)
  • Building explosions (Michael Bay would be proud)
  • “Snorricam” shots (where the camera is mounted to the actor)
  • 360-degree rotational shots
  • Glass shattering effects
  • Even unusual options like tentacle effects for horror content

What’s impressive is that the platform delivers on these effects without requiring much prompt engineering. You can simply upload an image, select your desired camera movement, and hit generate – though you do have the option to provide additional action prompts if needed.

The good: impressive effects with minimal effort

Higsfield excels at creating camera movements that would be difficult or expensive to achieve in real life. The “Snorricam” effect (popularized in Darren Aronofsky’s “Requiem for a Dream”) was particularly impressive, keeping the camera locked to the subject’s face while the background moves dynamically.

The platform also does a solid job at “hallucinating” the rest of the environment beyond what’s visible in your original image – adding details like neon lights or extending backgrounds as needed.
