NVIDIA is rapidly expanding its U.S. manufacturing footprint through strategic partnerships that will produce its AI supercomputers domestically for the first time. This marks a significant shift in the company’s production strategy, creating a more resilient supply chain while potentially generating hundreds of thousands of jobs and trillions in economic value over coming decades as demand for AI infrastructure continues to surge.

The big picture: NVIDIA is commissioning over one million square feet of manufacturing space in Arizona and Texas to build Blackwell chips and AI supercomputers entirely within the United States.

  • Production of NVIDIA Blackwell chips has already begun at TSMC‘s facilities in Phoenix, Arizona, while supercomputer manufacturing plants are under construction with Foxconn in Houston and Wistron in Dallas.
  • The company plans to leverage partnerships with TSMC, Foxconn, Wistron, Amkor and SPIL to produce up to half a trillion dollars worth of AI infrastructure in the U.S. within the next four years.

Why this matters: The move represents a significant reshoring of advanced technology manufacturing and strengthens domestic AI production capabilities.

  • These AI supercomputers serve as the foundation for “AI factories” – specialized data centers built specifically for processing artificial intelligence applications.
  • Dozens of “gigawatt AI factories” are projected to be built in the coming years, creating massive demand for domestically produced AI hardware.

What they’re saying: “The engines of the world’s AI infrastructure are being built in the United States for the first time,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA.

  • Huang emphasized that “adding American manufacturing helps us better meet the incredible and growing demand for AI chips and supercomputers, strengthens our supply chain and boosts our resiliency.”

Implementation timeline: While production has started in Arizona, mass manufacturing at both Texas facilities is expected to ramp up within the next 12-15 months.

Technological integration: NVIDIA will deploy its own advanced technologies to design and operate these facilities.

  • The company will utilize NVIDIA Omniverse to create digital twins of factories and NVIDIA Isaac GR00T to build robots that automate manufacturing processes.
  • This approach showcases how NVIDIA’s AI technologies can be applied to improve its own manufacturing operations.
